Kunming scenic

Day 01Arrival in Kunming

 

Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area at Kunming Airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.

Ston Forest

Day 02Kunming

 

After breakfast,drive to Stone Forest ( 200 km, 3.5hours, Shilin in Chinese), an 80 ha site of fantastic limestone formations created during the Permian Era when the sea covered this area. It is in the World Heritage List and managed by the traditional owners, the Yi people. It is famous in China and unique in the world. We will to visit the Stone Forest for 2.5 hours. Today's lunch is the Yunnan local delicious Yiliang Roast Duck

Bamboo House for Dai People

Day 03Kunming-Mangshi

 

Take morning flight from Kunming to Mangshi ( home of Dai and Jingbo minority, 40 minutes flight ) in Dehong prefecture. There are several Burmese style temples and pagodas. Sights include, Bodhi tree where the Dai people believe Buddha attained enlightenment. We visit the Nationalities Cultural Palace and the Dai Nationality stitled bamboo house to observe daily life of ethnic groups.

Jade Handcraft

Day 04Mangshi - Ruili

 

Drive south west towards the border town of Ruili. ( 60 km, 1.5 hours ), formerly famous as an opium trading centre, but now as a jade centre. Visit the border trading market, Dai minority village and several Dai style temples and pagodas

Heshun Village

Day 05Ruili - Tengchong

 

Drive north east to Tengchong. ( 170 km, 4.5 hours ). Sightseeing begins with the lovely Heshun Village, one of the most beautiful villages in China with its impressive library of over 70,000 books, well preserved houses and courtyards. Then, for perfect relaxation to the Hot Springs ( Rehai ).

Day 06Tengchong  Hot Sea

 

Today we tour this spectacular and different part of China featuring volcanoes, hot springs and geysers.

Nujiang River

Day 07Liuku

 

Drive to Liuku ( 242 km, 6 hours ) the Capital of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture. Three rivers: the Nujiang ( Salween ), the Lancang ( Mekong ) and the Dulong ( the upper reach of the Irrawaddy ) run from north to south through four great mountains. Ethnic minority groups inhabiting this prefecture include the Lisu, Nu, Pumi, and Dulong peoples. The Lisu ethnic group has a population of 700,000, and have maintained the custom of taking the Spring Bath ( Zaotanghui in Chinese ) from the 2nd to the 6th day of the first lunar month during the Kuoshi Festival ( New Year ).

Stone Moon Mountain

Day 08Gongshan

 

Liuku - Gongshan. ( 246 km, 9 hours Driving ) Gongshan is located ( 111 km , 3 hours ) north of Fugong, very close to Tibet. The Stone Moon Mountain is located ( 35 km, 1 hour ) north of Fugong. Stone Moon Mountain is clearly visible from the main road to Gongshan. You will see the locals glide over the river by traditional means.

Bingzhongluo area

Day 09Fugong

 

In Gongshan via Bingzhongluo to Fugong ( 155 km, 4 hours ) Today the drive starts from Gongshan via Bingzhongluo to Fugong. Bingzhongluo means ‘Tibetan village set in a Bamboo Grove’ and it is located ( 44 kilometers, 1 hour ) north of Gongshan. The First Bend of the Nujiang River is located ( 4 km, 5min ) south of Bingzhongluo. Fugong is located ( 135 km, 3.5 hours) north of Liuku.

Laomudeng Church

Day 10Liuku

 

Fugong to Liuku (135 km, about 4 hours ) After breakfast, we pay a visit to Lao Mu Deng Church, one of the oldest in the valley. Nujiang people are followers of Protestant, Catholic, Tibetan Buddhist, and animist religions. There are numerous Catholic churches in this area as a result of the French missionaries who arrived here in the 19th century. Then drive back to Liuku enjoy the local singing “SiShengBu” ( four tones singing ).

Batik Market in Dali

Day 11Dali

 

After breakfast,we drive to Dali ( 210 km, about 4 hours ) home of the Bai minority. Meet the local guide, check in Hotel.

Three Pagodas

Day 12Dali

 

Beautifully sited between the Cangshan ( Azure Mountains ) Range and Erhai Lake the Bai are the inheritors of the famed Nanzhou and Dali Kingdoms and are justly famous for their wood and stone carvings. In the afternoon visit the spectacular Three Pagodas complex situated on the ruins of Chongsheng Monastry. In the evening stroll through the vibrant Dali Old City.

Day 13Departure from Kunming

 

Take morning flight back to Kunming, 1 hour flying. Free easy in the morning, transfer to airport to departure. Wish you have a good trip. End of the tour
