Reed Flute
Day 02Guilin
- One Day Bike Tour to the Reed Flute Cave and Yao Mountain: Get up early in the morning to avoid large crowds on the streets. It takes about 40 minutes for you to get to the Reed Flute Cave. On the way to the Cave, you will see paddy fields and Peach Blossom River. After lunch in downtown, you will head for the Tea plantation and Yao Mountain. 1.5 hours are needed for the ride. Many kinds of tea are on sale here. Picking tea and the process of making tea can also be demonstrated. The Yao Mountain is the highest mountain in the city area with a height of 909 meters high. You can take a cable car to the top of the mountain and get a bird view of Guilin. At last, ride to the hotel in about 1 hour on Main Street.
- Reed Flute Cave (1 hour): Located 5 kilometers northwest of Guilin city, the Reed Flute Cave gets the name from the reeds used for making flutes and pipes that grow at its entrance. The cave is regarded as the largest and most impressive cave in Guilin. It is 240 meters long, and the length of the tour is about 550 meters offering a magic land of stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains, birds, plants and animals in fantastic shapes and colors. The visit lasts for 40 minutes and there are a lot of steps. Watch your step as the lights are dim. You guide will show you by electric torch.
- Tea Plantation: The tea plantation run operated by the Guilin Tea research Institute runs a very information tour and tea tasting. The 1 hour tour begins among the tea bushes with an explanation of the different type of tea leaves and how white, green, yellow & black tea is obtained. This is followed by a demonstration of the drying process. The tour concludes with a tea tasting from a selection of some or their best teas. The way out included a visit to the shop but there was no pressure to buy.
- Yao Mountain with roundway chair lift service: Yao Mountain lies in the east of Guilin, 12 km away from the downtown. The top peak is 909 meters high and 760 meters by relative height and is the biggest and the highest mountain in Guilin.

Li River
Day 03Guilin to Yangshuo
- Hiking from Yangdi to Xingping Town: Hiking along the Li River gives a great opportunity see the gorgeous Li River scenery close-up and the life of the farmers who live by the river. After a one hour drive from Guilin, you will arrive at Yangdi which is the starting point. The hike from Yangdi to Xingping is about 20 km and it takes about 5 hours at a medium pace. You will pass small villages; see rice fields, orchards and unique karst mountains. It is pleasant to count how many horses on the famous nine-horses-fresco as well as take a picture at Xingping which is featured on the 20 Yuan bank note. You will need to cross the river three times in a ferry boat during the hike. Our driver will pick you up at Xingping and then drive the 40 minutes to Yangshuo. Please bring some snacks for lunch since there is no restaurant along the way.

Hiking Yulong River
Day 04Yangshuo to Guilin
- Yangshuo-Baisha (bicycle tour): Get up early in the morning, take the road on your right and start your biking after passing a gas station, the villages you will be visiting are Yima and Baisha, if time is right, stop for a while to talk to local farmers or pick some fresh fruits in the orchards; the views along the way are ponds, fields, mountains and Yulong River. After about 2.5-3 hours, you will get to the part of Yulong River near Yulong Bridge where you will have lunch on a bamboo raft. Bike another 40 minutes you will be able to get back to your hotel for a shower.
